Downtown Denver Engagement Photography - Jenny and Colby

Jenny and Colby met in such a humorous way. I have to give Colby props for his awesome power of persuasion. I can't tell you anymore details at this time (you can read more when I post their wedding). The weather was windy and cold, so we had to move the engagement session inside for a while. August is one of the best months to get married in Colorado for weather purposes. Their Inverness Hotel wedding in August will be no exception. I can't wait! Their engagement photos are beautiful, timeless and classic.

Inspiration

Last Saturday I attended a seminar by my all time favorite photographer, Jerry Ghionis. Immediately, I was inspired and challenged. Jerry has some of the most beautiful light work I have ever seen. I have committed myself to embark on a new photo challenge of playing with light (ok, playing with it more than I already do). Below is an image I took. It is meant to be dark and moody. At the same time I feel as though the smile on his face evokes a softness to him.

Photo Classes in Denver

As many of you know, photography is my greatest passion aside from family. My other greatest passion is teaching. I love to share my wealth of knowledge with others. I am now offering photo classes. I don't require any specific type of camera. However, I do STRONGLY recommend that you have a DSLR or an all manual film camera that you can easily borrow or find from a grandparent or parent. If I have already lost you, this class is for you. No worries, I am more than happy to explain what type of camera you currently own.

The structure of this class is designed to be a beginner's class. We will be focusing on the buttons on your camera, what they mean and how to take better images. I can promise you that you will be challenged. I provide a set of thought provoking assignments after each class. The class runs 10 weeks long. The cost of tuition is $100, less than you would pay to take a photo class at a local community college. Class starts Monday, April 4. This class is structured so that all of your learning is done through video tutorials that I provide as well as Powerpoint presentations. Our class, we will all get together, and you will have the opportunity to photograph on site.

Please email me or call me if you would like to sign up!!!

Susan G. Komen Photography Cancer Benefit

Ok, ladies, here is the chance for all of us to get together to give. Except this time, there is a bit of a twist. Let's embrace the beauty that we have. I am hosting a boudoir party. The cost will be $50 per gal that attends. No worries, you don't have to be nude or do anything that you are uncomfortable doing. All of the proceeds, minus the expense of the location, will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The images that I take of you, are yours to keep. I will be sending everyone a CD with their photos on it. This is an awesome opportunity. I will hold the session in a hotel room, so that we have a mutual meeting place. I am thinking of holding this session in May, so that we have time to give our guys something special for Father's Day.

Just remember-$50 is cheaper than you and your honey going out on a date. So, why not use it for good, and still have something flirty or sexy to give as a gift to him? Let's get this party started!!!

PS: If you would like to attend, please email me or give me a call. I need to have at least 10 ladies interested in doing this.

Springfield, Missouri Family Photography

I posted that I was in Springfield, Missouri for my grandma's 90th birthday. She happens to be one of the coolest grammys ever. Grammy, you don't look a day over 75. Happy Birthday!
The photos with her and my grandad were taken against a wall at a hotel, not as awesome as a backdrop, but it will do.
Now to explain, the photo of the gal with the camera against her eye. That gal just so happens to be my Mom. My family is a little technologically challenged. The camera is both a video camera and a camera. My Mom was asked to take a photo of it with someone, and couldn't figure out why she couldn't see through the camera - because she was filming her own eye. Hilarious!!!

Side Note: Yes, the fabulous sunglasses are included as props with the awesome photo booth I offer.

Denver Family Photography

What's not to love about a two year old, runny noses, easily distracted, dirty hands and tantrums. But seriously, the best part about two year olds is their ability to have joy in the simple things. Kalvin was having an absolute blast just pushing his new Radio Flyer trike along. He hasn't quite mastered the coordination of pushing the wheels and steering at the same time. I like to say he gets his coordination from his Dad, but honestly, he gets it from his Mom. Poor kid!

Snow, snow, snow

My grandma's 90th birthday is today. She is an amazing hilarious woman. I have never meant someone with so many crazy phrases. We are in Springfield, MO for her birthday, and holy cow!!! I thought Denver had some snow, at least when we were leaving the airport it began to snow. Springfield is covered. There are piles of snow in parking lots that are at least 15 feet high. I am looking forward to coming home!
